Elementary Honor Orff Ensembles 2023 - February 2-4
Idaho Orff and IMEA welcome back the Elementary Orff Ensemble to the 2023 IMEA Professional Development Conference at Idaho State University in Pocatello, February 2-4, 2023! The directing team of Orff Specialists David Thaxton from Reno, Nevada, and Ardith Collins of New York City, will be singing, speaking, moving, and playing with elementary students, 4th – 6th grades, Thursday and Friday, February 2nd and 3rd with a performance on Saturday morning, February 4.
Interested students should be able to match pitch and keep a steady pulse and must be recommended by their music teacher. Students from around the state, outside of the Pocatello area, will be welcomed but must be housed in a local hotel room with a parent or guardian or with family/friends in the area with a parent or guardian.
Student fees for this All-State opportunity are $155 and include lunch, snacks, necessary music, and the Idaho Orff/ IMEA Elementary Ensemble T Shirt. Registration will begin on October 2 with forms and fees due on December 16.

Teacher Selections for IMEA/ Idaho Orff Honor Ensemble 2022
Student Qualifications: Music educators should select students in 4th, 5th, or 6th grade who exhibit the following skills and abilities:
Approximate cost per student - $155
One teacher may recommend up to 10 students, please rank them in order 1-10. A maximum of 6 students will be taken from any one school unless our ensemble is not full.
What do I do with these forms?
Because of the dedication and perseverance of Dr. Lori Conlon Khan of the Lionel Hampton School of Music, IMEA president Kathi Stefani, the Idaho Orff Board, and many other Idaho music educators, IMEA and the Idaho Orff chapter will be hosting the Idaho Honor Orff Ensemble in conjunction with the 2023 Idaho Music Educators Association (IMEA), All-State Conference at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. If you are ready for a boost in your teaching experience, have participated in your own riveting opportunities of sharing the stage with inspiring performances, we at Idaho Orff encourage you to read further.
The Orff pedagogy of the Schulwerk lends itself completely to the creative cohesive beauty of singing, moving and instrument playing within the make-up of a child. - Read and then Forward the "Orff Ensemble 2023 Letter for Administrators" to your principal.
- Forward the "Orff Ensemble 2023 Letter for Parents" to parents of your selected top 10 students with the "Orff Ensemble 2023 Letter for Kids"
- Send an email to Lori Conlon Khan – lorick@uidaho.edu ASAP with the names of students you are bringing to the ensemble.
- Make sure students register using the registration button above.
