Miranda graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelor of Music degree in music education. She has been a music educator for the past 5 years with the Boise School District, where she has taught preschool through 9th grade. She currently works at Cynthia Mann Elementary and Madison Preschool and teaches Preschool through 6th grade. She has completed 2 Orff levels training courses through BSU and has served on the IOSA Board since 2018. She loves teaching but especially loves finding new ways to explore with her little learners! In her free time she loves traveling to Disneyland!

Julianna received her BME from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2011. After graduating, she taught in Kansas City before moving to Idaho. Since moving to Idaho, she has taught in the Vallivue School District and currently teaches in the Boise School District. Julianna completed her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction in 2016 and her Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership: Building Principal in 2020, both from Northwest Nazarene University. Attending Orff conferences and workshops has made such a difference in her teaching. She is thrilled to contribute to the organization that has empowered her as a music teacher to better meet the needs of her students. When she isn't teaching, Julianna loves spending time outdoors with her husband.

PAST-PRESIDENT: Shannon Hotchkiss

Shannon came to Idaho to attend Northwest Nazarene University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in education, pedagogy and performance. Shannon began her classical piano training at the age of seven, and began singing and playing the clarinet shortly after. She has had a varied performance history including a European band and choir tour, competitions, personal concerts and playing in the Boise Philharmonic. Shannon has taught jr. high band, elementary band and orchestra, and elementary general music in the Nampa and West Ada School Districts. She is currently teaching middle and high school piano lab, beginning orchestra and 5th grade general music at Idaho Arts Charter School. She has written several musicals for the elementary school level, each performed by around 200 students at the Nampa Civic Center and the NNU Brandt Center. Shannon earned her Master’s degree from Lesley University in Integrating the Arts in the Classroom in 2011, and has completed Level I Orff Certification through BSU. Shannon received the Teacher of the Year Award from Eastside Elementary in 1992, and again from Ronald Reagan Elementary in 2009 as well as the 1989 NNC Student Teacher of the Year. Shannon is the proud mother of 2, adores her grandson and is excited for the arrival of her second grandchild.

She is past Idaho President of the Orff Schulwerk Association for music educators and is the past Elementary Repertoire and Standards chair for the state chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfMe). She is currently selected as nominee for the AOSA board of directors to be voted on in 2020-21. She also serves on the State Board of the Idaho Jazz Education Endowment and performs regularly as a jazz vocalist throughout the Northwest and at Disneyland with the Side Street Strutter’s Swing Orchestra as well as her jazz quartet with her husband. For the last 15 years she has been lead Performing arts teacher at North Star Charter School in Eagle Idaho. |

Teresa has served on the IOSA board since 2008 as our Treasurer, Editor, and President respectively. Music has always been forefront in her life; from hosting a jazz radio show to singing in a rock-n-roll band, jazz groups, Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale, and currently, Marimba Boise. Teresa graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music degree and English minor from BSU. Teresa earned her Level I Orff Certification in 2003 from UNLV. In 2006, she worked on the Idaho Humanities Standards: Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Task Force. She also earned her Master’s degree from Lesley University in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on integrating the arts into the classroom in 2007. For her master’s thesis, she wrote “Vernon’s Army”, a children’s book about the importance of washing your hands. Teresa began her teaching career in the Nampa School District teaching elementary general music and honor choir. Her choirs received superior ratings at the Western Idaho Elementary Music Festival every year. Teresa received the Teacher of the Year award from Willow Creek Elementary as well as the Elementary Teacher of the Year award from the Nampa School District in 2010. She currently teaches in the Boise School District. Teresa is the proud mother of 3 children: Ross, who is working on his Doctorate in Philosophy from City University of New York; Connor, who is a screenwriter in Los Angeles; Kate, who is attending Kalamazoo College in Michigan.

Tyler has been teaching music in one form or another for over thirty years. He received a BA in music (keyboard performance and pedagogy, emphasis in organ) with minors in Spanish and international relations from Brigham Young University. While at BYU, he enjoyed many performance opportunities, performing with the BYU Marching Band (at Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, and the Holiday Bowl), with the BYU Men's Chorus, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and was involved in recording two musical productions for PBS. While at BYU, he also worked with his mentor, Susan Kinney, teaching and developing curriculum for BYU's Young Musicians Academy, an experiential music school for ages 2-4. After years of private studio teaching, he earned a teaching certificate (K-12) from Lewis Clark State College with endorsements in music and Spanish. He completed Orff Levels 1 and 2 at BSU.
Tyler teaches general music K-5 at Barbara Morgan Elementary School in McCall, and is past president and founding member of the McCall-Donnelly School District Creative Arts Committee. He is actively involved with community musical productions, serving 18 years as Director of Music and organist at McCall Community Congregational Church where he founded the popular Second Sunday Sounds @ Six performance series. He has served many years on community arts not-for-profit boards and is past president of the McCall Music Society, as well as past conductor of both the McCall Chorale and McCall Chamber Orchestra.
Throughout his career, Tyler has belonged to the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), The American Guild of Organists (AGO), the American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA), and the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). Tyler enjoys making music with his five children; their family bluegrass band can be found performing at different events in Valley County.

Lori has been happily involved in music education for 37 years, including a position in K-12 instrumental and choral music; 32 years in Boise School’s General Music K-6; 10 years in pre-school music at Northview Montessori; as a professor in Lesley University’s Arts Integration
MEd program; Movement instructor in Orff Schulwerk teacher training courses; as a Visiting Music Education Professor at Boise State University; and now as Clinical Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of Idaho. She isn't certain what she wants to do when she grows
up! Lori has held the office of Region I Representative for the AOSA National Board (2012 - 2015), Co-Chaired the AOSA 50th Anniversary celebration (2016-2018), and most recently Co-Chaired the inaugural IMEA/Idaho Orff Elementary Honor Orff Ensemble with her good friend, Shirley. She begins national service again with AOSA this July 1, serving on the Research to Practice Subcommittee through 2023. Lori has three children she is extremely proud of – Sidrah, Sharif, and Khadija. Sidrah and Sharif are both counselors in their New York and Los Angeles homes, and Khadija begins her Masters program in London this Fall. She and her husband, Ather, enjoy time together at their mountain cabin in Lowman. Lori did Level I training at NNU back in the 90’s, Levels II and III at UNLV in 2003 and 2005, and completed a Master Class under the tutelage of Jos Wuytuck at the University of Mephis in 2007.

She directed a choir at her school for grades 4 - 6. Beverly has her level one Orff Training and has attended many National Conferences. Bev just recently retired.
