INTERIM PRESIDENT: Lori Conlon-Khan

Lori has been happily involved in music education for 44 years, including a position in K-12 instrumental and choral music; 32 years in Boise School’s General Music K-6; 10 years in pre-school music at Northview Montessori; as a professor in Lesley University’s Arts Integration MEd program; Movement instructor in Orff Schulwerk teacher training courses; as a Visiting Music Education Professor at Boise State University; and Clinical Associate Professor of Music Education at the University of Idaho. She isn't certain what she wants to do when she grows up! She is now semi-retired from the University of Idaho, only placing interns and mentoring them through their Professional Seminar course for one more year. She plans to spend more time with her family and elderly mother.
Lori has held the office of Region I Representative for the AOSA National Board (2012 - 2015), Co-Chaired the AOSA 50th Anniversary celebration (2016-2018), and most recently Co-Chaired the IMEA/Idaho Orff Elementary Honor Orff Ensemble with her good friends, Shirley, Miranda, and Falane. She continued national service with AOSA on the Research to Practice Subcommittee through 2023. Lori has three children she is extremely proud of – Sidrah, Sharif, and Khadija. Sidrah and Sharif are both psychotherapists in the Los Angeles area, and Khadija is a documentary filmmaker living in London. Their family expanded by one this July when Sharif married lovely Luisa in San Diego on the beach! Lori and her husband, Ather, enjoy time together at their mountain home in Lowman and their townhome in Boise. Lori did Level I training at NNU back in the 90’s, Levels II and III at UNLV in 2003 and 2005, and completed a Master Class under the tutelage of Jos Wuytuck at the University of Memphis in 2007. She was inducted into the IMEA Hall of Fame in January 2025.

PRESIDENT ELECT: Amanda Flory
Amanda Flory is in her 10th year as a music educator in the Boise School District. She was the director of bands at Les Bois Junior High from 2016-2025. She is currently the general music teacher at Highlands Elementary and is excited to teach the fundamentals of music to young students. Outside of school, Amanda maintains a private clarinet studio, teaching students of all ages. Current and past students have been selected for BPYO and Idaho All-State. She is also an active clarinetist in the Treasure Valley, and has performed with the Treasure Valley Concert Band, Hymns of Thanksgiving Orchestra, Meridian Symphony, and Boise Music Week productions, to name a few. Amanda completed her Bachelor of Music Education at the University of Central Arkansas and her Master of Music Education at the University of Kentucky, where she also received a graduate certificate in Dalcroze Eurhythmics. She completed her first level of Orff at Utah State University in the summer of 2025, and is looking forward to completing level 2 and 3.
PAST PRESIDENT: Falane Gerritsen
[email protected] Falane Gerritsen is a fully certified Orff Schulwerk teacher. Her Level I Pedagogy instructor was Paul Weller, Level II Keri Lynn Nichols, and Level III Roger Sams. Falane has served on the board for Idaho Orff for most of her teaching career including serving as Secretary. She has also presented several times at Idaho Orff workshops. She is very enthusiastic about Orff Schulwerk and the joy it brings her students through exploration and play. Falane graduated with a Flute Performance degree from the University of Akron in 2009 Summa Cum Laude, and a Music Education degree from Boise State in 2014. She has taught for Boise Schools, Kuna Schools, and now teaches in West Ada at Christine Donnell School of the Arts. She teaches General Music as well as Choir and Percussion Ensemble. She has also taught both piano and flute privately. Falane plays 1st flute in Treasure Valley Concert Band under the direction of Marcellus Brown, and also plays flute and piccolo in the Meridian Symphony under the direction of Jim Ogle. Falane is most inspired as a teacher by her mentors who specialize in movement including Dr. Lori Conlon Khan and Matthew Stensrud. She is passionate about including movement and dance in her lessons and shares her joy of creative movement during Orff Workshops. Falane has been married 18 years to husband Michael who plays Euphonium and is an ICU nurse at St. Lukes Meridian. She has two children, Anthony 14 who plays trombone, and Jeannette 12 who plays flute. Falane and her family enjoy spending time with their animals, and also really love the outdoors and to go camping. Falane also loves making greeting cards and she donates musical themed cards to our Treasures Store to provide music teachers with scholarships for professional development. |
SECRETARY: Jaime Olsen
Jaime loves teaching elementary music! She has taught at schools in Idaho, New Mexico, and Virginia. She presently teaches preschool through 4th grade, has an honor choir, a music club, and a voice class, as well as private voice, piano, and guitar students. She also plays percussion in her local orchestra. Orff is one of her favorite things and she loves learning from other teachers. She has been married 25 years to her best friend Sam who works in computer science. All three of her children have been involved in music. Her oldest, Kenzie is a singer who has been is several musicals and is currently studying to be a nurse. Dallin, her 17 year old, plays marimba in his high school band and just finished being Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast. Lanie, her 14 year old, is just starting marching band this year playing clarinet. She has two beloved dogs, one that fancies himself a singer just like the family. In her spare time, she likes to read and run with the dogs.

WEBMASTER: Tara Mason
Tara believes she has best job in the world- teaching general music and choir at Roosevelt Elementary! She is a Boise native and graduate of Boise State University. She also has a Masters of Education in Integrated Teaching Through the Arts. She lives close to the foothills with her husband, 3 kids and 2 yorkies. When she's not teaching, you can find her playing pickleball, singing in choirs and at sporting events around town or adventuring with her friends and family.

Shirley Van Paepeghem received her master's degree in Integrating the Arts in Curriculum through Lesley University and her BA in Music Education from Boise State University. Her teaching experience of 40 years includes secondary choral music, K-8 general music and private voice. Her area of teaching expertise is the young voice through adolescence.
Mrs. Van Paepeghem is a Level Two certified Orff Music Instructor. She has been a guest presenter at both state and national education conferences and performs regularly as a jazz vocalist at the Sun Valley Jazz & Music Festival and Disneyland. She has served as the Idaho President of the Orff Schulwerk Association for music educators and the Elementary Repertoire and Standards Chair for the state chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfMe). She currently serves on the State Board of the Idaho Jazz Education Endowment. During the summers, Mrs. Van Paepeghem has taught choral music at the Young Musicians & Artists' camp at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, Soundsation Jazz Camp at Edmonds Community College and currently is on the admin team for the NNU Vocal Jazz Camp in Nampa, Idaho.
In her retirement from full time teaching, she is teaching studio voice at Northwest Nazarene University (NNU), has a University Children's Choir at NNU, and is temporarily covering the music education position at Boise State University.

Tori is an avid performer and pianist. She has been teaching at the elementary level for over 10 years in the Boise School District. She completed her Orff Level 1 training at BSU, Level 2 at Trinity College in San Antonio Texas and Level 3 at Utah State University. One of her favorite aspects of elementary music is welcome songs- it helps her greet the kids and as a memory device to remember names. She is looking forward to being more involved with Idaho Orff this year!

Beverly is enjoying her 7th year of retirement. She keeps busy with organizations and running the Orff Treasures group and pop-up store. She manages donations, shops for deals, and coordinates members to make items for the store to sell at Orff workshops, IMEA Conventions, ACDA Conferences, and other sales and events. All funds raised go directly to the Idaho Orff Scholarship Fund for members. She is also very interested in promoting the chapter to get as many teachers aware of the chapter as possible. She helps manage the instrument loan and mentor programs operated by the Treasures group. Contact her for any issues in relation to those operations.

HOSPITALITY: Jessica Haddox
Jessica (Page) Haddox grew up in a musical household and began piano lessons at age four. She studied vocal performance at Ricks College (1998–2000), where she tutored music classes, student-directed choirs, and served as a teaching assistant. After taking time away from school to start a family, Jessica earned her Bachelor of Music Education from Idaho State University in 2014 and is currently pursuing a Master of Music Education at Eastern Washington University. Now in her twelfth year of teaching—and her seventh in elementary music—Jessica teaches K–5 general music at Falcon Ridge Elementary in the Vallivue School District (Caldwell, ID). She previously taught K–5 music at Lakevue Elementary (Nampa, ID) and 6–12 choir and guitar at Parma Middle and High School (Parma, ID). An active member of IMEA, Jessica has presented conference sessions on ukulele instruction and the new Idaho Music Standards, which she helped author. She is currently working to establish a combined elementary honor choir for students in the Caldwell, Nampa, and Vallivue districts, with plans to launch in the 2026–27 school year. Outside the classroom, Jessica operates a Certified Family Home, providing care and housing for disabled adults. She has been married for 25 years, is the mother of three children, and shares her home with a (happily overwhelming) number of cats. |
