Attending the National Conference for the American Orff Schelwerk Association this past November was an unforgettable and inspiring experience, to say the least! The information given in each of the sessions I attended opened my mind to the vision of Orff Schelwerk. For three days, I was given new knowledge and skills that would help me better meet the needs of my students and colleagues. As a District Elementary Music Coordinator, it was important to me that I internalize and learn from each session that I attended at the AOSA conference. I came home with a plethora of ideas, with which I immediately went to work notating, reviewing, and internalizing for future use in lessons and PLC training. This new knowledge and information will not only reshape my own music classroom approach but will potentially help guide the
elementary music teachers I mentor as well. I am left with feelings of gratitude and excitement when I think of how my district, who is new to the Orff approach and very recently came back from a period of time without elementary music, will benefit from the investment Idaho Orff has put into us. I will continue to work to bring this great philosophy to the classrooms of our area, actively seeking out the Orff levels training to effectively educate myself and my colleagues and to best meet the music education needs of our students. Thank you, Velma Allen and Idaho Orff!
