EXCITING NEWS!
AMANDA FLORY APPOINTED AS PRESIDENT ELECT
As laid out in our Idaho Orff Schulwerk Association bylaws: “If a term is not
completed, the President will appoint a replacement until the next election.”
Our President Elect position has been vacant for over a year with no one
expressing any interest in the leadership role.
I have appointed Amanda Flory as President Elect and she graciously accepted
the position, thank you, Amanda! She will shadow me this year and plans to
be ready to accept the leadership of our chapter on July 1, 2026, the official
beginning of the new AOSA year.
I met Amanda over ten years ago while her husband, Drew, was a graduate
student at Boise State. She was excited about pursuing elementary general
music, but there were no positions open that Fall in the Boise School District.
She accepted a junior high band job at East and excelled in that position for
ten years, earning the Idaho Music Educators Association New Educator of the
Year award in 2021.
She is now excited to be involved in the elementary world and volunteered for
service in our chapter right away, even before the school year started. She is
very qualified – she has her Dalcroze training and Orff Level 1 completed,
along with a Masters’ degree from the University of Kentucky (she worked
with Martina Vasil, our September clinician!). She will be attending the
national conference in November, thanks to assistance from our Treasures
group. At our next workshop, please take a minute to thank her for stepping
up to the call to leadership!
Welcome, Amanda! We appreciate you!
